Lloyd Courtenay



The Barron Knights drummer for the last 13 years now and an old friend the group have known for around 30 years having recorded with him and worked at the same venues.
His first professional job was working in a band backing Adam Faith in the sixties.

Then he went on to work with many other artists until joining a band called Arrival in 1970 who had two top ten hits during the first year. He worked at many major venues including The Isle of Wight Festival and also performed a Royal gala Performance for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

Later in the seventies Lloyd worked with Roy Orbison whenever he toured England and in the eighties he toured with Randy Crawford on her European tours and also worked in America for a while.

He joined the Barron Knights in the early nineties. As you can tell from the quality of the people who have sought his services, Lloyd is a fine drummer. He has worked as a backing musician in cabaret and consequently is very suited to the Barron Knights act which demands great variety of it's musicians

Although he a appears to be very quiet, Lloyd has a great sense of humour and contributes to the comedy on stage, he comes up with some great lines and is the first to burst out laughing if anything goes awry while the group are on stage. He is now teaching at three schools in the Midlands near his home in Grantham.
