50 YEARS DONE.

‘Time flies’, so they say and how true it is. I can’t believe The Barron Knights have been performing all over the world for Fifty years. I remember things that happened way back in 1960 so clearly. The first rehearsal, the first gig, how we got there and what we wore. But one thing for sure is we have always tried extremely hard to keep the standard of the show as high as possible, that has always been so important to us.
Our 50 years have been very special. Touring with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones was a massive boost to our career and having 14 hits around the world is one of the reasons we are still performing our concerts in those countries.
Looking back over those years we feel extremely proud that we have been able to show off the Barron Knights at wonderful places. Over 300 shows at the London Palladium, Shows at the Albert Hall, Buckingham Palace, The Falklands for the forces, 30 tours of Australia and New Zealand 4 tours of South Africa, all over the Middle East and Far East, America and of course here in Great Britain.
Other happy memories are when Paul McCartney asked if we would listen to a new song he had just written and he sat at the piano and sang ’Hey Jude’ We told him it could be a hit!!!! We introduced Elton John to Lennon and McCartney. Bill Wyman was inspired to be a musician after seeing the Barron Knights at Aylesbury Town Hall in 1960.
John Lennon wanted the Barron Knights to tour the States with him but sadly it didn’t happen.
The folks who need a big thank you are you the public who have supported us all these years and we hope we can continue to sing and play and have fun for many more years.
Enjoy the 50th Anniversary CD. We have been playing a Flamenco piece I have been playing at home for years Malaguana and the classic William Tell Overture in the act for a long time and so many folks have asked if I have recorded them, well, now I have and hope you enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoy playing them. Lots of old tracks as well as new ones make up the 24 tracks.

NEWS 2010

Hi Folks, a big thank you for coming to see our 50th anniversary concert and hope you enjoyed it as much as we do performing it. Lloyd, Mick and Len, have worked very hard on all the new material and there is more to come for sure. We have added quite a few good old early hits from the late fifties and early sixties and they get great reaction.
The Chelsea Flower show gig was such a load of fun. A thousand folks seated in a semi circle just rocked along at our 1pm show and another thousand out our 2 30 pm show. Bob Sweet, the man in charge wants us to do the whole week in 2011 and we can’t wait. Nor can our wives who managed to walk around and spend our fee.

Had many calls and emails from tourists who have visited Paul McCartney’s family home in Liverpool. In one of the rooms is a glass case with a poster advertising their tour and guess who is on the bill of the poster. The Barron Knights. Something we are so proud of. That tour changed our future and gave us so much profile.
After making a decision not to go to Oz again I had my arm twisted by Tony Brady our agent down under and pleaded for us to tour again so off we go end of October to new Zealand for 4 shows then over to Oz for 12 in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth getting back just in time for our last show of the year at the Stables Wavendon.

Hope to see you soon.

Lloyd, Mick, Len and myself Pete.
